Itinerary of the Desert Tour from Casablanca

Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca

From the Casablanca airport, port, or hotel, we pick you up to start the Desert Tour from Casablanca. Casablanca is Morocco’s largest city and the country’s commercial center.

First, we’ll visit Morocco’s greatest mosque, the Hassan I Mosque. It is located on the city’s west side, on a peninsula overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Following a lunch break, we take a city tour and visit Casablanca’s stunning beachfront. Spend the night in a hotel.

Day 2: Casablanca – Rabat – Assilah

We leave for Rabat, Morocco’s current capital and one of its royal capitals, after breakfast as we travel down the coast. Among the city’s attractions you will see on this Desert Tour from Casablanca are the Hassan Tower, Mohammed V’s Mausoleum, and the Kasbah of Oudaya. After lunch, we travel north to the seaside city of Assilah, where you will spend the night in a local hotel.

Day 3: Assilah – Tangier – Rif mountains – Chefchaouen

We leave Assilah after breakfast and drive down the coast to Tangier. The bride of the north is another name for her. It is located in the Strait of Gibraltar, northwest of Cape Spartel, where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean.

First, we will tour the lovely city, as well as the Cave of Hercules and Cape Spartel. Before driving inland to Chefchaouen, we’ll stop for lunch, traveling via Tetouan and the Rif mountains. Stops for panoramic views will be made along the trip. Spend the night in a hotel in Chefchaouen.

Day 4: Chefchaouen City Tour

Following breakfast, we’ll see Chefchaouen, also known as Achaoun, which is Berber for “horns,” and also known as the “blue city.” The city is located in Morocco’s northwest Rif Mountains. It is well-known for its white and blue-painted houses and lanes.

We’ll start by strolling around its gorgeous ancient Medina, which has many magnificent real blue doors and whitewashed walls. After lunch, in the afternoon, you may trek to the Spanish mosque, which is situated on high ground and offers a wonderful view of the entire blue city. Finally, go back to your hotel. Stay the night in the same hotel.

Day 5: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

After breakfast, feel free to stroll through Chefchaouen’s lovely alleyways. Then, we proceed to Volubilis to witness the old Roman remnants. Because it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it has been meticulously preserved. It has several magnificent mosaics throughout, as well as antique pillars and archways.

We drive 30 kilometers to Meknes after exploring the ruins. The city is recognized as the capital of the Ismailis and one of Morocco’s imperial towns. Among the things we view are Bab Al-Mansour, the Sahry Souant basin, the Royal stable, the granary, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Then we’ll head to Fes, where you’ll spend the night at a Riad.

Day 6: A guided tour of Fes

On this Desert Tour from Casablanca, we’ll embark on a tour of the city’s highlights with a local guide after breakfast. Fes is an imperial city in Morocco as well as a cultural and religious center.

We proceed to the gate of the Royal Palace, then the well-preserved medieval Medina, declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. You’ll go to the Blue Gate, also known as Bab Boujloud, which serves as the entrance to the old Medina. The Tanneries, Najarine Fountain, and Madrasa Bouanania will also be visited. We visit the Quaraouiyin mosque and university, the world’s oldest.

We left Medina to view the Jewish area also known as “the Mellah”. In the afternoon, we’ll go to a medieval fortress for a breathtaking vista of the whole city of Fes. You will sleep in a Riad at the medina.

Day 7: Fes – Ifrane – Cedars forest – Midelt – Ziz valley – Merzouga

We travel to Ifrane via Imouzzer after breakfast. The city is well-known for its chilly climate, snowfall, and Alpine architectural-style homes.

Our next trip is the cedar forest, which is home to the Barbary macaques. You are invited to feed them while exploring the forest. Later, we’ll eat lunch in Midelt. We continue to Merzouga over the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and the Ziz valley after halting for panoramic views.

We then go to Merzouga in the late afternoon so that you may ride camels and enjoy the Saharan desert. You’ll stop to watch the sunset from the top of a high dune. The camp, which resembles a hybrid between opulent hotel accommodations and simple nomadic tents, is where you finally arrive.

You can dance around the campfire and listen to the rhythm of the Berber drums while stargazing beneath a huge open sky. Dinner and an overnight stay will be provided by the desert camp.

Day 8: Merzouga – Nomads – Khamlia – Flamingo Lake – Erg Chebbi

Waking up early is essential if you want to see the lovely dawn in the middle of the desert. After breakfast, you return to Merzouga on camels to explore the surroundings. There are other magnificent features in the area, including sand dunes, natural lakes, mines, and fossil locations, as well as fantastic oases.

We’ll go off-road to see an old eyeliner mine. Then we go to see the nomads in their handwoven tents. While sipping Berber tea, learn about their way of life. Our next stop is the Khamlia village, where we’ll see Gnaoua music and dance performances. Its residents are primarily from Sub-Saharan Africa.

After lunch, we’ll take a stroll through the palm tree forest before driving a few kilometers to explore Merzouga’s wild lake, also known as Flamingo Lake. Dinner will be at your hotel.

Day 9: Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

Prepare yourself for the beautiful sunrise by waking up early. Breakfast is given before returning to Merzouga on camels, where your driver awaits. We leave the desert to explore Rissani town, the former headquarters of the Tafilalet authority. Rissani is still an important trading centre in the region, with a lively souk on most days of the week.

We proceed to Erfoud after seeing the Souk to view one of the petrified marble factories. Then we go via the Touroug and Tinjdad palm orchards to the Todra Gorges. The flow of the Todra River has carved a beautiful canyon through the mountains, resulting in a towering red cliff-sided valley. Rock climbers will love these gorges.

After lunch, we continue to the Dades valley, passing via Boumalne Dades. With a view of the Dades valley, stopping at the “monkey fingers” rock formation is inescapable. Finally, have dinner and overnight at a nearby motel.

Day 10: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Palm Groves of Skoura – Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou Kasbah – Telouet – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

After breakfast, we travel to Kalaa Magouna to see the Rose Valley. Residents offer rose items at the Rose Festival in May. We next make our way through Skoura’s palm orchards. We eventually arrive at Ouarzazate, often known as the Desert Gate. We’ll see the studios where famous films were created.

We make our way to Ait Benhaddou’s Kasbah. It is a fortified village that has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Kasbah has also appeared in various films, including Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. We drive to Marrakech over the Tizi-N-Tichka crossing and the magnificent High Atlas Mountains.

There will be regular lunch breaks and picture stops at interesting places. We finally make it to Marrakech, where we spend the night in a Riad.

Day 11: Marrakech City Tour

On your guided tour of Marrakech, which is included in the Desert Tour from Casablanca, you will see the Saadian Tombs, where the founders of the Saadi dynasty are buried, the Bahia Palace, the former home of the vizier, the Koutoubia Mosque, which was built in the 12th century by the Almouhad dynasty and has a magnificent tower, the Madrasa Ben Youssef, and Jamaa Elfna.

In the afternoon, we will leave the ancient medina to visit Majorelle’s magnificent floral gardens. Spend the night in a hotel or a Riad.

Day 12: Marrakech – Essaouira

After breakfast, we head west to Essaouira. We’ll stop along the road to observe the Argan trees and goats as well as for panoramic vistas. As one of Morocco’s significant seaside cities, Essaouira, previously Mogador, is reached.

This Desert Tour from Casablanca includes stops at the historic Medina, the cannon-equipped walls from antiquity, and the fishing harbor. Finally, return to your hotel where you will stay for the night.

Day 13: Essaouira – Marrakech

After breakfast, we embark from Essaouira and return to Marrakech, stopping for panoramic vistas along the way. On your last full day of the Desert Tour from Casablanca, feel free to explore the famed Jemaa El-Fna plaza. Stay at a Riad for the night.

Day 14: Marrakech Airport

We will transfer you to Marrakech airport on the last day of your Desert Tour from Casablanca, depending on your flight timing. The tour has come to an end.
